Viewing the Seven Sisters Chalk Cliffs and English Channel looking West.

Description

The famous chalk cliffs known locally as the Seven Sisters form the backdrop to many WWII films including the Battle of Britain film. In WWII there was a fighter diversion airfield situated on the top of one of the cliffs, for those planes too shot up to go further inland. They stretch along the Sussex Heritage coast from Cuckmere Haven to Birling Gap at the edge of the South Downs national park. It is classed an area of outstanding national beauty. Beachy Head lighthouse (see adjacent picture) is close by, to the east of this location and has the same type of chalky cliffs.
