African Buffalo, one of the Big Five Game Annimals, in Savannah Grass

In Luangwa Valley's savanna a lone African buffalo (syncerus caffer) is almost invisible in the early morning light as it feeds in the elephant grass. It is one of the Big Five game animals that can be seen in African reserves.

The coat color varies, with older buffalo often appearing black or dark brown, while younger individuals may have reddish-brown coats.

Their unpredictable nature makes them dangerous; they are responsible for numerous human fatalities each year due to their aggressive behavior when threatened or startled by a tourist.
