Former Vietnamese Boat People's Village, Batam
Description
Buddhist statue and Temple with Christian church to the left. Taken at the time and on the day that the Boxing Day Tsunami struck Indonesia. Fortunately Batam Island, situated in the South China Sea, was shielded from the devastating impact by the island of Sumatra, which took the full force of the Indian Ocean's waves. Perhaps it is a sign that when different religions can work together for the common good of a community then they will survive.
